Well, I'm hooked.
For those of you who want to know what the Tamron 150-600mm lens will do on the Nikon D7100, these are what I managed to take yesterday and today. And I'm just an amateur. So any good photographer could probably really make this lens sing.

I'm an amateur right along with you, but my bif and bird shots look nothing like these. Great shots! Hope my rookie photos will start to look like yours.

I found a tripod helps tremendously, not wearing my glasses, using my diopter on my camera and reading threads posted here on how to's have helped more than anything else! Oh yes, and being in the right place at the right time. Regis's threads have helped a great amount. Stick with it. It will come to you!
