Per Thomas Shahan: "
What a beautiful pest! Here's the Azalea lace bug (Stephanitis pyrioides), shot with the new Venus 60mm macro lens, in the style of the stacked images I was producing for the lab a few months back. This specimen was alive and healthy (and resultingly, not very cooperative), shot atop a clear plastic petri dish with black velvet below. Cropped from a 5-image stack at f/8 or so. Capturing images of this insect against a black background, doesn't show off the diagnostic black-brown maculations, but really brings out the beautiful iridescence present in these tingids."

5 shot stack (cropped considerably!) of a hyperactive (yet obviously occasionally cooperative) Erythracarus sp. mite found scurrying about a Phidippus audax's silken home. Assuming it was feeding on nearby elongated springtails.

Stunning. Love the iridescent color in the wings.
Wow, that's wonderful! It looks like a piece of handcrafted jewelry made from stained glass. ....... Coot
Outstanding macro work!!
The lace bug is truly a jewel! That lens is going to sell well with reviews like these. Shahan is one of the true masters of macro!
Pretty results and a good advert for this lens in skillful hands.
Beautiful shots, love the color
Absolutely excellent and beautiful work!
Incredible. I am also wondering how this 2:1 macro compares to using a 1:1 macro lens + an extension tube? Don't know how far one would have to extend to get 2:1. What I have in mind is my Minolta 100mm F2.8 macro. Takes marvelous 1:1 shots, but I haven't added an extension tube to it yet.

A full set (12mm + 20mm + 36mm = 68mm) of extension tubes brings 100-mm at MFD, from 1:1 mag to 2:1 mag.
