Down by the dock

Took a walk down by the dock today since the weather changed for the better. The rain stopped, the sun came out and the temperature rose to 60 degrees. I love this South Carolina winter, so much nicer than that in Northern Virginia.
At the dock, I came upon a hawk, a feisty crow, a heron, and a snowy egret.

Nice outing. Sounds like you are close to Kiawah Island. We have gone there for the last 4 or 5 years, and love it!

We're north of Kiawah, with a Charleston address. I'd like to bike Kiawah sometime. I hear there are nice bike trails there.

Thank you. I was taking photos from quite a distance handheld on the Canon SX50 and was pleased that the photos weren't as blurry as I'd expected. I don't have the most steady hand.

Super shots! Love the shadow of the heron + the crow/hawk dispute. By its tail, I don't think your hawk is a redtail. Maybe Cooper's?

Thanks Linda. The front of the hawk looks like it could be a Cooper's but I don't know from looking at the back of the wing color/pattern. I'd like to know for certain, though. I see him around all the time.
The heron has something wrong with his toe on the left foot. I watched the interaction between the heron and the egret which came later, and the egret was most definitely the aggressor. In fact, he scared the heron away by puffing up and displaying his fine white plumage. Unfortunately I didn't get a shot of that happening.
