Well I went to Monster Jam , Phoenix and took some photos. The lighting was sufficient for my 70-300 Nikon lens. I sat in general seating not in a special photographers area, thusly , I had to shoot around vendors and a guy in front of me with a head the size of Jupiter. My question is the buffering, my D7100 couldn't keep up with the action, is the 810 a better camera for action or is it me. what do you think of the pictures I did get, just three of em, many more

Buffering - do you shoot raw or JPG? What SD card do you use?
I find that shooting raw I get a fairly fast burst with a Samsung Pro 32 GB card on my D7100 - fast enough over many other class 10 cards.
(I shoot 14 bit raw)
Lots of discussion on here regarding different cards and speeds.
Good info here that can speed up your burst rates after the buffer fills....

Try a Sandisk 95mb card.
Do you REALLY want to spend several thousand dollars to get 2 more shots-per-second?

Shooting JPG with a fast card should keep your burst rate around 4-5 per second - hardly slow.
If you are not getting that fast, perhaps the card is not fast enough.

I shoot the D800, and the D7000 as a backup. The 810 is NOT a sports camera it's focus is slower than the D7000, and the files are twice the size so it is slower on bursting. If burst is your only reason to upgrade don't waste your money. Instead learn how to anticipate the action and stop bursting so much. Faster card, and pre-focusing then setting to manual focus will all speed up your shooting. But the D800 will slow you down!

Don't want to drop cash, just read here that 810 buffers faster. Will make 95mb card my primary in my D7100. Thanks
