I recently purchased this camera. Would like to know the best lens for a baby shower. It will be indoors with good lighting. I ideally want to take group shots as well as individuals. What's my best bet for a lens that does both?
Thank you,
Diane

I have the a3000 and have found the kit 18-55 does well indoors. I am happy with it even at a higher iso and no flash.

I have an 16-50 and a 55-210 lens for this camera. I find that I mostly use the 16-50. Indoors the 16-50 will be all you need.

The Sony 50 f/1.8 is an excellent lens and it's stabilized. I also use the sigma 19 f/2.8 and the sigma 30 f/2.8

I use the sony 18-105 stabilized G lens F/4 throughout zoom with my A6000. The G is their pro series. I also use the Zeiss 24 1.8. For indoor . The Sony lens is just as sharp. Of course it depends what you are doing with the pics whether you need that degree of lens quality

Here is what I would do, - Get the Sigma 19, 30, and 60mm f2.8 primes and you are in business with GREAT image quality and no flash !

I bought the pancake lens and the 55-210 with my a6000. The first event, like a baby shower, had me changing lenses frequently. That led to selling the 55-210 and buying an 18-200. The 18-200 let's me go from head and shoulders, tight head framing, etc. straight to group and venue shots. And the distortion is very low.

I still have the pancake 16-50. Haven't put it on in months. Not sure why I even have it in the bag. Maybe I'll sell it and get a macro.

So far my experiences with the 16-50mm and 55-210mm has been disappointing. Very few decent pics out of almost 1K attempts. Granted, many of those have been in continuous shooting mode.
