Some progress shots of my newest archtop. Most archtops are 17in at the lower bout, this one is 13in. This guitar was started before Christmas. Work stopped to build a mandolin and started up again Jan. 9. I'm pretty happy with the time, I put in 8hours just like the old days.
Top .....Western Red Cedar
Back ... PNG Rosewood
Sides.. Victorian Blackwood
Neck.... Plantation Mahogany
Fingerboard, Bindings and Veneers ... Solomon Blackwood

Super documentation! Does this come with headphones for a self guided tour? Great shots to take me through the story

I agree with FrodoBaggins - great photos of documenting your process.
Cheers Frodo, thanks for commenting.
Fascinating, to say the least! I love the exotic woods you're using. Being a life-long woodworker, I can appreciate the craftsmanship it takes to do what you are doing. I would really like to see you continue this series through completion.... and a nice shot of the finished product. Very nice images, sir. TFS.
Yes, keep us updated. Looks like it will be beautiful.
Will it make me play better ???
Digital Don, thanks for commenting. Luthiery can be an art, I'm happy enough at the moment just to do the work.
Jeffery Yong is the real artist and has set the bar very high indeed. I'm saving my penneys to go to Malaysia and attend one of his classes

Cheers Michael and thanks
Dewman, thanks for the comments. For me Oak, Cherry, Maple are exotic and very pricey here. I'll make a completion post, this is a little more than half way.
mwalsh, you sir will be playing better almost immediately with one of these here geetars. Thanks for commenting.
Cheers Moxie,

You're making this? Wow. Very talented. Love to see it when it's finished.
This is really neat to see this right now since we just watched a special on TV about the making of a violin! And this seems very much the same! Thanks for sharing, Bill!
Thanks for commenting and looking jederick, Denisedancer and Sue.
Denise, there will be a completion post, thanks.
Sue, the archtop guitar and mandolin are indeed cousins to the violin family. Cheers.
Just brilliant, please get a video of you playing it and post it for all to see,
Geoff
