Would you like to have a small chip injected into your hand to make it easier to access technology at work?

Probably not! If it screws up you end up opening and closing your zipper until you can get it fixed!

And then there's the annual removal and replacement or the installation of an upgrade.

The way technology is advancing would need a new chip every 4 years. Why not have built in to a ring?

Not sure if you could handle magnets, the way they screw up digital data. You could end up doing that zipper thing otto mentioned lol.

Makes me think of the scene from The Hunger Games when they had chips implanted into them.

The mere thought causes a bit of paranoia.

There will probably come a time when people are chipped at birth.
Welcome to the world of science fiction and big brother!

Dogs, and some other animals, are microchipped for identification purposes. I don't think chips have to be replaced if new equipment comes along.

If it ever comes to being microchipped, I think it should be somewhere that it wouldn't be destroyed by burning/cremating a body. It might help to identify a body if the body has been beheaded, the hands cut off or the teeth removed; all methods used to identify bodies.
