Sorry, don't have any link references at my fingertips, but Nikon and Sony both are also rumored to have sensors around 50mpx on the way this year ...rumored...

Canon and Nikon will have to go to bigger sensors soon. You can only crowd so many pixels on a full frame sensor before noise becomes a real issue.
