This is why the clerk at the post office will ask you if there are lithium-ions in any package you are mailing. My local p.o. will allow them if installed in the device (camera, etc.) or if still packaged in original wrapping. Loose ones supposedly are a hazard in any shipping that involves air transport. Surface transport is not considered hazardous. Other p.o.'s might be stricter with the rules. (My favorite clerk tells me it depends on the whims of the postmaster.)

Keep this in mind if selling cameras and batteries on UHH or any other online site.
