The trees are still barren of leaves but it's been easy on the livestock with no significant snow accumulation as of yet. But that might change at a moment's notice.

Thank you Sylvia. I suspect these rural scenes look pretty much the same just about wherever one might go.

Thank you Karin. I particularly like what this effect does for trees and country scenes.

Nice image Bob. I like it. Do you have a shot that have a closer perspective on the large tree, barn and cattle? Even enlarged they are just dots.

But the farmer's grandson side of me is coming out, with a touch of teacher. One is a cow (and female), multiple is cattle.

Beautiful composition. I like the effect; but the composition is what makes this photo stand out for me. I think it would be very good also as a straight photo? No?

I agree with Erich--the composition is great.

Thanks Jerry. Actually, I did take a closer photo of the barn, but didn't post it .... I liked the landscape view better.

East Coast semantics - a cow farm is usually populated by dairy cows, a cattle farm is populated by beef cattle.

You're right Erich, the straight photo looked pretty good, but it was all brown grass and barren trees, with a washed-out red barn. In my own estimation, the sketch gave it a bit more character.

Thanks jaymatt. I find it amusing that I drive through the backcountry specifically looking for winding roads that have fences. If they're straight, I pass right on by.

I like the landscape, just would like one that went from the tall trees left of the barn to the right edge and from the top down to about the 3rd fence post from the bottom on the left side of the lane, where the tones go from dark to light.

And a "truck farm" is populated by:______________

vegatables (raised for sale in a market)

origin in old French "troque" which came from the Latin "trocare" to barter or trade

Love this one, Bob. And I now see what you mean by 'changing at a moment's notice.' We had a whopping two inches of snow up until yesterday. Today, we had winter. Thirty inches and counting.

Sounds like a good excuse to light a fire (if you have a fireplace), get a hot drink of your choice, some nice music, a good book and occasionally glance out the window, look back at the fire while taking a sip then smiling as you go back to the book.

Thanks Randy. Notoriously, our worst storms come in February and March. I'm keeping my eye out for the Lion.
