We had a little dusting of snow this morning. I got these shots from a little pile on the top of a wooden fence just before they started to melt. Tiny flakes so I cropped these between 50-75%. D7000, 105 lens, full set Kenko extension tubes, SB-28 @ 1/8 power. After I downloaded these, I went out for a second try, but all the pretty ones had melted.
Nice to see snowflakes like this so I'm glad you are having a go. It is on my 'to try' list but at the moment we only have a little snow at the top of the mountains.
Brenda - It was fun! If you give it a try, I got these with the light source directly over the flakes.

Thanks
I like the way these are piled up. Speaking of which, the last two look like they would stack nicely to get both top and bottom flakes in focus.
Stacking was the original plan. I'll try that later.
Don't exhale! Crack of dawn has many advantages warm or cold weather. Beautiful photos!
never tried snow,nice shots
Second run. Tried waiting until a flake fell on something.
These are on a glass patio table. I could see these melting as I was shooting.

These are on a glove that I had in the freezer. The temps were getting warmer so most of the flakes were broken.

Sadly, I best one melted on the glove before I got a good shot.

Very nice. Well done images. I went out in my yard this morning to see if I could duplicate your photos but alas, no snow. I doubt there has ever been snow in this part of California so I will have to look elsewhere.
