A few days ago, I posted a male northern flicker and was asked to post a photo of a female if I was to get one. I finally got one, and only one, so here it is. Hope you like it.

Yes, thought that odd too, so looked it up and apparently it's not all the common, but does happen. Check this site...

Thank you Angela. No, I used the Sony A77II with 70-400G2 lens. Just got it a couple of weeks ago and just learning to use it. It seems to be sharper if I don't zoom all the way in.

Thank you Sue for that info. Very interesting. I'd love to see that dance. I thought maybe my flicker had a narrow escape from a Cooper's Hawk.

Unfortunately I don't see any in my area. But I had two families nest in my yard when I lived in the Orlando area, and I was lucky to see them all the time
