Walked out on my deck late yesterday afternoon and spotted a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers flying from tree to tree. Took about an hour for one of them to get close enough and stay long enough for me to get these shots, but it was worth the wait! Please try the download, especially on the last one.

Beautiful shots. They are challenging because they are constantly on the move. Good job.

I love your pileated !!

I noticed that your ISO was at 800. A high ISO decreases quality.
I shoot Canon also and any time I go more than 400 I am not impressed with my shots.
Start at 100 and only increase it if you absolutely need to get enough light. So for your pileated, an ISO 100 with shutter set at about 620 or so, would have given you the same exposure without the distortion.

They are still good shots.

Thanks! You're so right, it did make my day. I had just come in from my daily walk and had found nothing really exciting to shoot....until this guy showed up!!
