After a few days of rain, wind, ugly wet Seattle weather I was having a photography jones so I stepped out this evening to capture the sunset in the calm over Puget Sound as the sun set over Vashon Island. Shot from my deck #1 - Tug Pulls Crane and #3 Peaceful Sunset- 1/100 sec at 7.1, ISO 200, 230mm (Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5 - 5.6), #2 Sunset Over The Island - 1/100 sec at f/5.0, ISO 200, 185mm (Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5 - 5.6).
Give me your best assessment, let me know what I could do better.
Larry, I envy you and your deck, it's a beautiful spot and beautiful photos.
Maybe a wider shot would work better, or change the angle? The tug and crane are almost out of frame.
Changing the angle to compact the distance and might create diagonal lines.
Of the three photographs I prefer the first photograph.
It has the interest of the crane and the small boat with the reflections of the sun across the water.
Although I find the appearance of the itself looking rather unnatural and wonder if a graduated filter would have helped to tone down the sun a little.
The second photograph is underexposed.
The third photograph has lost its interest of the small boat and the reflections on the water.
Just my thoughts though.
I can only say beautiful and very well done, Larry!
