I just bought a Nikon, Coolpix S 9700 from Best Buy. I'm at best a lousy amateur (meaning I haven't had any training in photography, but I want to learn.)

I'd like to know if anyone has experience with this camera--pros, cons.

Also, if anyone knows of free online photography classes, or where I could get lessons in the Park Forest, Illinois area.

From what I've read the s9700 is a good compact camera, very good image quality, gps and wi-fi and the 30X lens. The thing you should do is learn about the manual settings on your camera...shutter speed, apeture ect. and buy books about digital exposure. That's the fun about digital photography, learning about the settings on your camera and what they do to a photograph...good luck.
