How big an object?
Do you want to remove specks of dust? Or a whole tree?
Are you using any software now, and if so, what program?

All photo editing programs, will remove small blemishes, dust specks, etc.
Some program have "content aware" features, and you can move or remove large objects in the photo with varied success.
(Photoshop Elements is one of those, and the one I use).

If you're talking about smaller objects, say a mole on a subject's face, I use a paint program that works pretty well.
Larger, I'd think you'd need a more sophisticated program for such work.

I generally don't need object removal so I have no clue about various programs but I know they're out there.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 will run on Windows Vista with Service Pack 2

If you buy this, check all computer requirements for disc space etc.

Never heard of it before. The object removal tool is similar to Adobe's "Content Aware", but they fail to show the selection tool in action, and everything else is down to selection. It probably works in a similar fashion to the Quick selection tool in PS and Elements.

On the plus side, Avanquest has a good reputation and there is a 60 day money back guarantee on purchases of Impixio 6.

By the way, Avonquest don't actually write this software, they are the selling agents.

Some objects are tricky to remove, whatever software you might use but what you need is software that can work with layers and masks. Forming an appropriate mask can be fairly easy if the object has sharp edges but leaves and hair can make the job difficult and extremely tedious. I use Paintshop Pro for this kind of thing and it has improved over the last couple versions in this regard; it's pretty inexpensive and you can probably find it on sale right now. Photoshop is another alternative; I'm not so familiar with it but it is popular and you can rent it along with a whole lot of other software that you may or may not find usefulfor about $10 a month.

There are free editors and some are pretty good but I don't know of any that support layers and masks; perhaps Gimp will do the job but last time I looked at it, the user interface was pretty confusing and the learning curve looked particularly steep.

Has anyone tried Cutout, from AShampoo? They send me ads regularly, since I use their computer cleanup tools.
