I have been asked to shoot a Prom. How do I identify the couples later for printing?

This is what I do....take a slate shot. Carry a note book....a large pen/marker...write down the name...contact info...e-mail and so on...have them hold the note pad and click.

Use an assistant to record the names of the couple and assign a number associated with the picture. My sister and brother in law have been doing this for many years and this is the system they have used successfully.Doing it single handed is almost impossible.

I use index cards with holes punched in them. My assistant collects the money, then marks the package that the couple chose on the card. She hands the card to the couple. When the couple steps up to the set, I take the card and put it face down on a peg that goes through the hole in the card, so that they can not get out of order, then I pose and shoot them. The cards are in the same order as the photos. Whichever method you use, it's important to keep it as simple as possible because all of the couples show up at the same time, and things really happen fast. Have fun and good luck.

Besides that, you can index by the file number on the booking board.

doing id's for college paper slip with name course pps no
photographer takes the shot and tells the assistant the number who writes it on the slip.
Also helps that you can clearly read the information on the slip and if you struggle to read it get them to confirm the details.
