Missing photographs in freezing temperatures.

Thanks for all of the comments. Feel like I have a pretty good understanding now. Also, based on the specs that were quoted, I am doing very well under these conditions.
Whenever I go out, I keep three or four extra batteries in my pocket. In addition, I always purchase the extra life batteries. On this particular day, I only used one battery for all 330 shots.
So, if I am understanding correctly, there is a chance that I am taking the shots to quickly. I need to give more time for recovery, and return the camera to my warm pocket more frequently.
Does that sound like a plan that could work? The feedback is been so powerful, I am not going to give up. As a matter of fact, I am returning in the morning to redo these assignments. The temperatures have warmed up, and are in the low 30s. I will make a note to check if I have any problems. If I do, I will mention them in the forum.

I went out last year at-30 and had my canon dslr outside my coat and was traveling at 50 mph on a snow machine and shot 400 pics and didn't lose a shot and didn't have to change batts. Didn't go go so well for me with frostbit cheeks, nose and a finger. But I did get some nice shots of a dogsled race. Hope it's warmer this year!
Are you from Alaska? That is the only place I know that uses the word snow machine for what others refer to as snow mobile.
Sorry for the hack OP.
