I am using a Canon MX882 for printing. I just don't care for the results. Its too slow and a pain to keep connected with WiFi. Of course the cartridges are not cheap. I would like to stay under300$. I print all types of photos. Any comments will be appreciated.

The Canon MX920 does a nice job with photos. It cost about $100. Pretty fast, and also wireless if that's an interest. I connect with USB.

It appears from reading a bit of other forums and HP service that the transfer rate should not be a problem. (yes I know you have a Canon) Other reading suggest that there may be a little lag Wireless vs USB... but little ... in today's digital world is really little.. what, 1-2 seconds? Two heart beats at most!

You have not mentioned distance from printer to router and what type of steel walls are in between !!! Remember that the signal is from computer.. by wire to router, then by radio signal to printer. Router speed may, but probably not, be an issue.

First thing I would do is uninstall the printer drivers... I see that the 882 is several years old and if drivers are from a disk... they are old. Then reboot, install latest drivers. Switching printers is a bit drastic and you may well end up with the same problem... good luck...

The best results I've had - and still have - is with Epson Ink, Epson Paper, and an Epson Printer. I have an Epson Photo Stylus R2880 and it prints a museum quality photo that will never fade. It has 8 ink cartridges, and will print up to 13x19 with awesome quality. It was only $600ish, but well worth it. I tried Kodak paper in this printer and it looked awful! Stick with Epson.

I agree with the epson 2880. I did't have enuf $ for that one but got an epson2000 referb..less than $400, still the same 8 inks and have fab results...but ..you can get really good results if you have the ICC info for the paper you are using

How does the 2880 compare to the 3000?
I can perceive much difference by looking at the specs.

The epson 1430 is in your price range and is a great printer for the money. Yes there are even better printers out there but it's a solid photo printer for the money.
