Not really. But if you want a photo vacation, and can get a week off in February from the 9th through the 15th... book a trip to Barrow for our Kivgiq (Messenger Feast) celebration next month.

It's a photo op beyond your wildest dream... There is nothing like Barrow anywhere else in the US. A Messenger Feast is a traditional Eskimo trading event, where one community decides they've "had a good year". So they send out messengers to all of their neighbors, near and far, inviting them to come visit at a particular time to enjoy the hospitality of the inviting community. Games, dancing, and an exchange of trade items to be expected.

Here's a youtube.com video that is just too cute to describe,

I don't know about tours, but it's hard to travel around Alaska and not find stunning views and wildlife everywhere! I personally would not recommend a cruise, or at least if you cruise, do it as part of a longer trip. A few years back we spent two weeks there - rented a car and spent a few days at Denali (do the all-day bus tour, and take your longest telephoto and tripod), then a few days in Seward (whale-watching, the nearby Exit Glacier day hike, other beautiful hikes along the bay), and then drove over to Homer, where you can go sea-kayaking, halibut fishing, and where you can reserve a day trip by floatplane to Katmai National Park, where the grizzlies are. That is pricy but an experience never to be forgotten! Lodging is very expensive. We found a fantastic home to rent in Homer on VRBO.com, which we have used a number of times. It was about the cost of a decent hotel room, but was a 3-BR cedar home on 5 acres - with a view across the bay and a moose in the backyard every afternoon. Can't beat THAT experience!

If you are going to be in Haines I would highly recommend Rainbow Tours. Tom Ganner does an excellent job, he is a summer resident & fellow hog.
As far as the rest of the state is concerned, which I have spent a bit of time in, there are photo ops everywhere you turn. Keep your 2nd battery charged & download your card every night. An awesome place.

My wife and I were in Alaska in 2012 and hired David Taylor for a week.

You can check out the Alaska gallery on my website www.fotomacher.ca and also the book "Alaska: A Photoventure" on Blurb or the publications tab on the site. Our interest was having a guide to the best sites for imaging rather than a course in camera/lens use. David is a professional photographer and we were able to structure our trip to satisfy our objectives.

We used Alaska Wildland Adventures in 2007 which took us on a great tour, including Denali. "Camping" was already set up each night with our luggage delivered and gourmet meals prepared. See their website at:
http://www.alaskawildland.com/. They have a specific photo adventure listed in the website and the guide we had was fantastic. Good luck; wish I could join you.

Under google look up Jeff Schultz photography, he has classes he teaches and travels to some great places in the state, more like a teaching/photo trip, if that interests you at all and/or matches with your trip here. Jeff is the head photographer for our Iditarod Dog Sled Race a 1,049 mile race to Nome which takes about 10 days average.
You could also check with Stewarts Photo on 4th avenue, they have been in business forever and I believe they may have some connections that may help you out.
I have lived here 40 years and like people say you can get photos most anywhere from your backyard to the tops of the mountains. Good Luck, Dave
