I hike a lot and need a lightweight but full size tripod. Would attach tripod to my backpack which contain extra lenses, flash, etc.. Would like to pay no more than $300.
What are my best options. Thanks for feedback, suggestions.

I would look at the Manfrotto 190XPROB. Even with a head it will come in under your budget, and is compact and reasonable light weight. To get lighter you will probably have to start looking at carbon fiber tripods and the price for a good quality one will easily bust your budget.

I am in the market for a similar, light weight for hiking but strong enouth for my D750, etc.

But, I have the good fortune of having a higher budget.

Suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

I am very happy with the following which I recently purchased for my 750:
Manfrotto MT190CXPRO3 Section carbon tripod
Manfrotto MH054M0-Q2 054 Magnesium Ball Head

Appreciate prompt feedback. Have you heard any reports, good or bad, about Benro tripods??

Do a search for "Benro" on this site. Lots of feedback.

Found a Manfrotto carbon tripod (MKBFRC4) with 8.8 lb load capacity, folds to 15.75" and weighs 2.3 lbs. Over my budget by $49, but pretty close. Any thoughts on this option?? Thanks, again.

Found a Manfrotto carbon for $349 on BH Photo that is 2.4 lbs. Did you consider this tripod in your research? Thanks.

Also have a look at the MeFoto backpacker. I bought one last year and am very pleased with it. It's small, light and easily holds my full frame camera with 70-200 lens attached.

Again budget is not an issue but I would like some feedback about the 3 legged tripod Eddie if it is reliable for a 1DX + EF100-400 lens? I am planing a trip O/S and this tripod seems lightweight and compact but still full size?

It's 'Benbo' not 'Benro'.
I use the 'Trekker'.
It will support your camera in positions impossible with other tripods.
As to weight, only you can decide on the weight/utility trade off.

The Manfrotto 190xprob would be a good choice for under $300, but I have the Manfrotto Befree carbon fiber and it's less than 1/2 the weight, and retails at $349.00. comes with a ball head. Cna be found for close to $300 with a little effort.
Weight capacity is listed at 8.8 lbs for both models, so depends on what kind of lens you'll use. I won't put my FF camera with a big lens on it, but it would probably hold, in a pinch. I use this with crop sensor camera and crop sensor zoom lens, which is what I hike with anyway, so I don't even approach 8.8 lbs.
Either one will fit easily into a backpack.
