Living in Alaska I shoot lots of landscapes and a lot of night/astro/Aurora.
I just upgraded to a full frame D750 from a D7000. The only full frame lenses I have are the nikon 24 - 70 2.8 and 70 - 300vr tht I use for wildlife. I am faced with a choice of the Nikkor 20mm f1.8 which I can afford now or saving for a couple of months and investing in the Nikkor 14 - 24.
I'm looking for advice/experience on both lenses before making the choice.
Thanks!
I don't own it but I've used the 14-24 zoom and it is simply amazing. Very sharp and fast focusing. I would normally would choose primes over zooms but modern zooms have awesome image quality. I think the zoom at 14mm will give you a perspective that you'll grow to appreciate the more you use it. Good luck either way and enjoy!
I don't think you can make a mistake with those two but the 14-24 is truly an amazing lens.
My 14-24 is my favortie lens. Super sharp ultra wide angle.

Besides the 14-24mm there is the 16-35mm which is cheaper than the 14-24mm, but allows screw in filters that the 14-24mm does not. The quality of the 16-35mm is great (not quite a 14-24mm but close).

Personally my vote is for the 14-24, that gives you more options in terms of composing landscape images.
I have that lens and the 24-70 f2.8 and for a telephoto I use the 70-200 f2.8. All three are outstanding lenses which also complement each other. For a really long reach I use a Sigma 150-500 mm.
You've already got the 24-70 which is an amazing lens. Adding the 14-24 enhances your lens capabilities significantly while also maintaining image quality. In the longer term perhaps you'll be able to afford something longer of equal quality as well.
It's generally good to take a long term view of purchases and then making sure you maintain quality consistency throughout.

My personal would be for the 14-24 as well. The 20/1.8 is interesting to me due to its speed. I would consider it if I needed the extra speed at that focal length. The 14-24 is so good that I have heard that some Canon users have had them converted!
