I have a problem with my D7000. It won't turn off. I took it out of my bag used it for 10-20 photos and went to turn it off and it wouldn't. Completed a service request on the Nikon website. They would not quote a price for the repair so I boxed it up and sent it off. Federal express said it got there Monday at 9:10. I have not heard from them yet. How long do they normally take to process repairs?
Thanks for your reply.

It depends on how busy they are at the time. Usually you will get a notification within 2 or 3 days via email if you email was included. Repairs are dependant upon parts needed so there is no way they can give you a quote until they know exactly what part(s) may be needed to complete the repair.

Oh, for crying out loud; you always make it so difficult. Just extend the off/on wires to an ordinary light switch and glue it to the LCD. If you really need the LCD that much, use a short piece of piano hinge glued to the top so you can flip the switch up. Gaffers tape will make the camera look tacky!

Hi,
I'm sure you tried this, and right now it's a moot point, but did you take the battery out, and reinsert it? The reason I am mentioning this, is because I have had, and from time to time, have the same problem with my D800. I just take the battery out & put it back in. I don't know what causes it, but as I said, it happens every so often with my D800, and that's what I do. Happy New Year. Mike

I was pretty sure you had tried my suggestion, but as the expression goes, "Never Assume."

I hope it turns out to be something minor. Let me know what Nikon says. I'm fortunate because I live about 20 minutes away from their repair center, and can bring in my D800 for them to check.

Thanks for getting back to me. Mike

Thanks for all of the replys. I just called Nikon they are processing packages received on 12/22. They suggested they might know more mid next week.

Wow. That some backup! I guess I'm spoiled because I live so close, and can just bring it in for anything, and a lt of times they look at it while I wait. I even bring it in for Firmware updates rather than doing on the Internet.

Sorry you have to wait so long. Keep me posted. Take care.
