I don't think I have ever seen a heron in such deep water
(we've had a lot of rain). Must have had good reason to take the plunge! The results are lovely!

He doesn't look too happy about the deep water in #1. Nice shots - #4 is my favorite - the heron against the greens and pinks and blues of the background. Very nice.

Well done.
They don't do the very often but they will go after fish in deeper water sometimes. I watched a GBH do that very thing a few weeks back.
BTW - This a Great Egret.

Very very nice mndschmidt, I agree, don't see many Great White Egrets in water that deep, maybe she walked into a hole, well done

our lake is high right now so she had no choice! Yes, I know it is an egret ... Just fall into the heron thing! actually it is a Great Wet Egret:)

she stayed there for a long while ... Basking in the ... sun then came out and did the preening ritual! there were several other birds gathered nearby- ibis, wood storks a Limpkin, and 12 Scaup trolling the lake. A fun afternoon!
