I have 2 sb600 speed lights and want to get 3rd speed light to use as a kicker. my d7000 only have group a and group b. how can I get control for 3 speed lights? will I have to combined it with one of the others or do I need pocket wizards for this kind of setup? thanks in advance for your responses..

Just a shot in the dark here...
But can't you set two of them to be slaves flash fired, and have the third as your camera fired?

(Going on how I did my Family Christmas Party where my off camera was a flash fired slave, and my cameras pop-up was the driver.)

I'm not sure my answer will be on target, but I'll give it a shot. You may only have two groups, but within each group you may have multiple lights. Controlling 3 lights with this system is fairly easy, once mastered, unless you are anticipating something wildly different between each flash. That's the best answer I can give you based upon what I gleaned from your question. Hope this helps.

Are you using TTL for flash control?
You could use manual flash control and adjust each speedlight accordingly.

You probably could put all three lights in the same group and get what you want. This is a difficult, yet simple system which takes a bit of reading and some practice. After that, I think you'll find the system to be pretty versatile. I recently used it at a wedding, for a good friend as I seldom do weddings anymore, with three lights for formals and I found it worked well. All flashes were in the same group, but set a bit differently.

The -600 is not as versatile as the 800/900/910.

You cannot have 3 groups with the camera Commander Mode. You can control 3+ flashes but only in two groups.

The 600 does not have a Pocket Wizard plug-in for the basic Pocket Wizards but you CAN have three groups with the Pocket Wizard Flex/TT5 system. But that would require four PW units PLUS the AC3 controller. There are other systems out there that can simulate PW performance at much less cost.

A cheaper route would be to buy an SB-910 or an SU-800. THEN you can control three SB-600s in Three groups, Not sure if the SB-700 can control three groups - you should check that out.
