Need your advice going to Hawaii in June really would love the Nikon 14-24 2.8 but it costs half the trip cost. Looking at the 16-35 F4 anyone have any comparisons or thoughts on the 16-35

Have same dilemma...
Thinking newer body (technology) makes the f4 a great bargain ?

I am curious to see replies and opinions...

That's more than likely going to be my next lens.
Here's a review by ken Rockwell:

I have this lens and bought it over the 14-24. The 16-35 accepts filters and the 14-24 does not so it was not even it the hunt so far as I was concerned. A wide angle lens especially for landscapes benefits from the ability to mount a polarizer and or a neutral density filter. The 16-35 is a very capable lens that will not disappoint. ;)

I have been vacationing on The Big Island for 18 years and I travel with two lenses. My 28-135 IS and 70-200 IS f/4 L lens. Choose two lenses to give you the greatest flexibility without getting loaded down on your trip.

There are adapters available to use filters with the 14-24, but they are expensive.

Bob, the 10-24 does not have filter threads. One would have to mess around with something like Lee filters for this lens so I'm guessing this is what you are referring to? ;)

That's what I was referring to. One reason I'm going for the 16-35.

Yes, the price is kinda up there. I use a Tokina 16 - 28mm FX instead. Before that, I had the Tokina 11 - 16mm DX.

Would seem to me that where you are going you will want both wide angle and zoom capability. Take a look at Nikon's 28-300.

Also, use Nikon's lens simulator site to test various lenses on your body. It is
