D7000 with 18-140

A little over two years ago I received as a gift the nikon d3100 with two kit lenses. After buying the 50 mm 1.8g lens which I love I also wanted a zoom lens with more reach and also a bit sharper than the 18-55 mm which I received with the d3100. I was close to making a decision for the nikon 18-140mm when I saw on this forum someone (kb6kgx) noting that Best Buy was offering the d7000 with the 18-140 for $630. Since I was about to shell out $495 for the lens how could I not get the d7000 for an additional $135. So that is what I now own even though still being a newbie I was not through with the d3100. My reason for sending this is to say thank you to all of you as I have been following this forum for about a year. THANK YOU!!!

Hello and welcome to the HOG. Great camera and lens combo, but beware,
this can become addictive. You will see that many of us here suffer from G.A.S. (and loving every second of it!). Enjoy your purchase, looking forward to seeing some photos soon! Mike J.

Yes I'd agree...great deal and that lens...same reason I got the D7100 kit.

And its even worse if you are retired. To much time on our hands, the research, camera reviews, etc.

You're right about that. The next step is find a credit card that has enough room on it. :D

Yes, that was me who pointed out the Best Buy pricing. However, I snoozed, and I lost. I didn’t get it when I saw it. Now, not only is my local store all sold out of the D7000 but the price is now $699, up $70 from the week before. STILL a bargain, but now fewer stores have it in stock.

I’m not terribly concerned as when the next model comes out the price of the D7100 should (operative word “should”) drop in price, as well.
