Hello. Do I offend you if I say Merry CHRISTmas? If I discuss openly what I'm celebrating on CHRISTmas day? If I defend the right to stress (when asked), that I'm celebrating the BIRTH (the coming) of my Savior, Jesus Christ? Does it make you uncomfortable to learn I'm celebrating a day of FAITH rather than confining it only to gifts?
Well, does it? If so, all I can say is 'TOUGH!' That's what the 25th of December is to me and many believing CHRISTians so if you are offended, or if you think it's now politically incorrect to associate this day with a 'religious' event....'TOUGH'. Step back and let me celebrate the day for the purpose it was designated and don't bother me with your sniveling. I'm totaly fed-up with others who think Christians should take a step back and 'cool it'. Forget you! This is CHRISTmas so either join me in celebrating this eventful day, designated to show our love and honor to our Savior JESUS, or just learn to put up with it. I won't bother you on your 'special' days, that even our lop-sided government is starting to recognize, so button your lip about my CHRISTmas!
Oh, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Merry Christmas! BUT your assertion that the holiday was designed to celebrate the birth of Jesus is dead wrong It is a pagan holiday celebrating the winter solstice and Christians co-opted the pagan holiday.

Now there is nothing wrong at all to use it to celebrate Christ's birthday, but the holiday was here long before that.

Don't like the facts? To use your words. TOUGH. :-)

Wish you a merry Christmas. What a great day to show love for all not just those who believe in Christ. I sure hope you are not offended by those who just enjoy the day. - Dave

Papa, sounds like you may have some anger issues. I haven't seen any posts so far today that tell you that you can't celebrate Christmas in any way you choose. Remember that word you used,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh yes, i think it was 'Faith'. If you look up faith, i think you'll find it means "the evidence of things not seen and the hope of things to come." I may be off with the exact definition, but at any rate, it doesn't mention PROOF i don't think. Maybe we should live and let live, don't you agree?

If i understand what a true Christian is, or is supposed to be anyway, then the scoffers won't offend you. If you're not, then they will, it's that simple! So i guess my question to you Papa is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"are you offended today?'

And to the OP, you sound very disagreeable. Do you think your jesus would be proud of your attitude? I doubt so, you act like you're looking for a fight...good luck, hope you find it.

Whoa! Looks like I headed in the wrong direction with my post. I was in no way directing my statement (feelings, actually) to anyone on the Hog. It's just a handy 'chat' site to express my feelings, so I used it. I have enjoyed and appreciated all my message exchanges with everyone here over the years. I was speaking in generalities, and certainly didn't intend to give the impression I was angry at anyone here. I was thinking more of the businesses that are afraid to offend people by saying Merry Christmas, etc. And the politics that play into it too. I should certainly have been more explicit. I didn't mean to offend you or any Hogger. I guess I was just blowing-off steam about a very touchy subject. My apologies to you and to anyone whom I may have given the wrong impression to about my being angry. Far from it... I don't usually get 'angry' very easily. In MY book, Christmas is Christmas and represents (to me), what I have described.
Furthest from my mind was an intent to stir up our fellow-hoggers or to direct my comments to anyone in particular. If one happens to disagree with me, that's certainly their privilege, as it is also my privilege to say, we can now agree that we disagree, eh? With that thought in mind, I still wish you and all other Hoggers a very Merry CHRISTMAS.

I think some folks just want to be offended and hope they will offend with their CHRISTmas. You get mad when it is pointed out that it's not Christs Birthday. Since the powers that were many years decided to mix it with a few other days just go with it. Just wish joy and good will to all men as I think Christ would do. If you are truly affended do as Christ would do and turn the other cheek. - Dave
