Hi,

My Epson PictureMate is dying.

I am looking for an inexpensive Canon 4 inch x 6 inch printer for snapshots.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Alan

I've heard good things about Canon Selphy.

I think this is the Pixma renamed. Nice, portable, good quality. However, the ink is expensive, and it runs out quickly.

Wrong on every count, Fred. Pixma is inkjet, Selphy is dye sub.
The Selphy has no ink and the paper/dye film packs run 27 cents per print.

Well, it's not the first time, and won't be the last.

I have, sitting right next to me, an old Canon Pixma iP90, which I purchased mainly for its portability (at one point I did so much traveling that having a printer I could use in my hotel room was a must!). I haven't used it in several years, so I don't even know if it still functions.

No ink to buy??!!!!!! Yipeeeeeee!
No ink cartridge to dry up and need cleaning cycles??!!!!! Hoooray!!
27 cents per photo sounds reasonable.

Thank you,

Alan

Jump over to 2:30 and you can see what the ink/dye pack looks like.

Give up on the expensive 4x6 printers and send your snapshots to one of the photo printers. You can get them much cheaper at WalMart, Walgreens, Costco in an hour or two, or even cheaper - about 9c a print - online at places like Snapfish (owned by HP).

Does that use ink or film to print? I have a Kodak 4 x 6 printer that uses a cartridge with paper and colored film for printing. The prints are waterproof.

Much cheaper to send out. You can E-mail to Walgreens, Walmart, etc.
Costco produces great results here, and they will mail them to you if you don't want to pick up for half the price mentioned for printing at home. Will be dumping my Epson Artisan printer early next year. Easier to send out.

But sometimes the shipping gets you.....more for it than the prints!

I have a Epson Artisan and love it. It's one of the few that print on CD and DVDs. We usually get our pics. printed out but sometimes need an extra 1 or 2, so rather then go out I just print extra copies. The Epson does print better copies, I must say.
