One of my assistants ruined my USB camera port. It is no longer useable, says Canon. My question is , is there any other way I can connect to my camera to get it to work as if there was a usable USB port?
A CF card reader is probably your next option.
I understand . But want to use camera connected to
computer to see pictures as shoot is in progress. Can this be done in other way without buying expensive canon wireless to do it.

Type C mini HDMI connector.
3.5mm stereo jack for analog audio and video

You need to read the manual on the functionality of those ports.
I would expect that you should be able to connect the HDMI to your computer to view the pics -
The stereo jack appears to be for video connection but might have an option for pics -
The manual should explain this...

You sound like you have a business (one of my assistants) so just pony up the cash and get it fixed and in the mean time use your backup camera.
Ok Ill start reading. Where do I get a HDMI to USB cable. Searched with no luck. I need a link to the correct cable.

The manual should tell you where you can get parts

When you were talking to Canon about the ruined USB port, why didn't you ask them if there was another way to do what you want?
Have you investigated using one of those memory cards with WI-FI capabilities?

I just about never use the cable method to transfer the images to my drives via the computer.
I make use of a good quality card reader.... one with a DEEP slot to where you insert the CF card. The brand that I am currently using is a "Delkin Devices" Card Reader... You will have to decide (If You Are In The Market For One) the one that you wish too buy. I do stress that you get one that has a DEEP slot.
Good Luck with that.

Occasionally, computer repair shops will have tools designed to straighter mangled ports. Find a friendly shop (this leaves out the BB Geek Squad). Some of the old time mom & pop shops have magicians working there. If, on the other hand, the wire is broken you are up the proverbial creak without a paddle.

You can use the Eye-Fi SD card. Set up your 5D so that you send small jpg files to the SD card. Small jpg files will make the transfer of the files to your tablet or computer run faster. Use the CF card for the big (main) files you will use for your work. There is a special Menu setting on the 5D Mark III for the Eye-Fi card, so set up the 5D per your manual. Not sure if earlier versions of the 5D have the special Eye-Fi card menu setting. If you have an earlier 5D, then just follow the Eye-Fi card instructions.
The Eye-Fi card sends out its own wifi signal. Download the Eye-Fi app to your tablet or install the Eye-Fi app that comes with the card to your computer. Set your tablet and computer to connect to the Eye-Fi wifi network. Run the Eye-Fi app and shoot away. Distance between camera and tablet should be as short as possible to get a good transfer. The Eye-Fi web site will tell you how far the card will transmit the signal. I have found it to work fine within the confines of an apartment size studio and with an iPad. Good luck.

Take your camera to a computer store and see if they can find the cables you need.
