I was stationed in Iceland 1966 to 1968 and I loved it. Next year is our 25th wedding anniversary and we want to return to Iceland. I'm looking for
current information
We wand to stay on or near the Reykenes Peninsula and travel on a series of day trips
We're planning on about 10 days in late April - early May
Thanks
Bill and Marilyn

What sort of information are you seeking? Accomodations? Dining? Prices?

I'm not sure how much I can provide. I traveled to Reykjavik in March, then drove the ring road to Myvatn, stopping in Borgarnes and Akureyri along the way. I also stayed in Hveragerdi in the southwest.

Iceland is lovely. Just the title of your post alone was enough to make me look! :)

Thanks Just Fred,
I guess that I'm trying to "catch up" on the last 48 years.
Just saying 48 years brings home how long ago it was. When I was there I and a friend used to dive where the Blue Lagoon is now. We're looking to stay in Hveragerdi and travel
I would like to learn more about the ring road and the road to Thingvelleir

I would highly recommend the Frost & Fire Guest House in Hveragerdi. The "ring road" is so-named because it's essentially one highway that circles the island. You can either drive yourself, or take a tour. Þingvellir ("Thingvellir" ) is part of the "Golden Circle," which includes the Gulfoss waterfall and the Geysir hot springs area.

Gosh, there is so much to see in Iceland. That's why I keep going back! One just can't take it all in in a week or so.

Take a LOT of film/SSD cards with you. Iceland is expensive, and you'll want to capture a lot of it on camera!

Thanks folks,
I'm trying to maximize our 10 days or so in Iceland and trying to cover everything I was able to do over two years in a much younger body
MTshooter, Thanks I'm already checking with them but, to tell the truth, the choice is huge.
I'm already preping our camera equipment

Try Nordic Visitors. They have reps in Iceland and Sweden. Their service is very good, reliable and cost saving. I have used them both in Iceland and Sweden and I would not hesitate to do so again. Spent month of July in Sweden. Hot but great weather.
