The farm where these horses reside is next to the
one where we hunt. Years ago, they were popular at fairs and parades in NE PA. The farmer built a Chuck Wagon and outfitted it "Old West" style. He and his wife dressed in era garb and traveled all over with the team and wagon. They were fun to see. He passed away a few years ago.
When I took the pic it was a very hot summer day in July. I found them in the woods while the temperature in the pasture was hovering around 100-deg. F. They preferred to stay in the shade of the woods near a spring, and only ventured out after sundown when the farmer brought hay and grain for them.
I shot these using a
Canon Powershot A620 7.1MP P&S camera.
I'm inspired by Bob Yankle's "Sketch Series" and had to give it a try with what I have in PsE-8, I used the Graphics Pen Sketch Filter.
I hope you like it. Comments welcome.

Cool effect Gene!
It looks very vintage, and the original shows how beautiful those horses are!
:-D
I like the sketch and the original. Good job on both.

Gene, as you has discovered, sketches work better on some subjects more than others. It does very well with tree branches and dark buildings, not so much on items that have light colored details. It seems to have worked well on these horses though, and you chose just the right amount of tonal contrast. Well done.
Like the effect but I think the original has a lot of impact.
