i recently discovered that one of my images had been stolen and used on a number of pc wallpaper web sites so i politely asked the admin if there was any way that i could remove the post so i could watermark the image. this is the reply i got, We do not generally delete old images/posts at user's request unless there is a valid reason. So if you don't want your content to be shown here indefinitely, then please don't post it here in the first place. For this reason, regrettably i will no longer be posting any of my images on the site. I would like to thank all the members for your kind comments over the past year or so and wish you all a very merry xmas

Rob, watermarking your images as you have done here would be easy to defeat unless you watermark over the entire image (which I don't particularly like seeing). I suggest that if you post images anywhere on the web that you reduce the size of your images so that they won't print large prints. Unfortunately, even a small image can be used to display nicely on the web so there isn't much you can do about that.

So, the UHH admin doesn't think that theft is a good enough reason to comply with your request? I wonder what a good enough reason might be?

Rob, watermarking your images as you have done her... (show quote)

Thanks Jeep_daddy yes i know what you mean about the watermark but i just don't see the point in posting them with a mark right through the image, but i have learnt my lesson and don't post anything anymore unless I'm not bothered about someone steeling it.

Sorry for your situation. I sure enjoyed these shots!

I'm posting less and less myself as I've had at least one stolen. UHH is still a great site for information and skill building ...

Sorry to hear about your problem. If you want to have the best shot at protecting your property you should register your photos with the copyright office.

Unfortunately your situation here is just another example of why admin is a joke. it's about time to put this "hog" on a spit and serve it up.

Best of luck to you in the future.

Did you happened to stumble on one of your images? How did you find out? By the way your work is outstanding. I just looked at your previous postings. World class Sir.

I don't blame you for your action. You obviously have good equipment and know how to use it. Thanks for what you have shared and I will miss your work.

I feel anything I put on here is going to be taken if someone wants it bad enough. I think I saw one of my bridge pictures being used as a background on a news channel. If it wasn't then the person had to be taking the picture close to the same place I was at another time under the same circumstances. Which is probably what happened.

Thank you very much Osprey, If you go to the google home page and click on images in the top right corner it will bring up a camera symbol in the search box, click on that and then on upload image, it will then search the internet for that image and show any sites its on, i have at least a dozen that have been stolen and when they are foreign sites there is very little you can do about it :|
