Walrus in captivity for the most part do not have tusks. Their concrete environment soon damages them.
They can weigh over 2 tons and reach a length of 15 feet.

These were at the Québec aquarium that I visited in early November. Their main passtime seems to be to go back and forth in the 200 foot long pool. From what I've read, they are content in captivity. These photos depict arrival and departure.

What a face, had to laugh George, good captures. The first
one reminds me of Wilfred Brimley from the movie Cocoon.

Thanks for your comments Ebbote. I agree with you Brimley does or did have quite the mustache.

Nice set. The first is my favorite...and suggests to me that someone has used it as a model for a space alien in some movie.

Thanks for your comment Dave. That's not too far fetched, they are odd looking creatures.

Oh George, I love this, just for the sheer fun of it! Actually, I am a large, water-loving mammal, too, so it looks like I've met a kindred spirit.

Thanks for looking in Bob I appreciate it. As you say these are for fun and most are low resolution due to cropping. I should be posting some more detailed Walrus portraits in the coming week.
