I have been walking since March carrying my camera. Mostly taking close ups. I carried my 70-200 yesterday and took a few interesting shots on the San Antonio river south of San Antonio...I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy walking the area!

The bridge shot is very nice. It exudes calm and serene & must be a great place to "collect yourself".

Thanks Mike. It is quite nice and quiet area...the walks are 8 miles round trip so the scenery is really helpful to passing the time!

Mr PC, they went to a lot of effort to make the path interesting including crossing of the SA river along the way. Missions along the way built in the 1700s and 1800s add another dimension. Too many here in SA don't even know this area exists!

Oh, wow! The new section is really coming along! Things have grown and filled in nicely. I'm glad they are making the new section so nice for bikes, walkers, and outdoor activities. San Antonio is a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice series John G. Reminds me of the time many years ago when my friends and I use to swim in the river at Conception park even tho' there was a public pool there. They river drew us, however it never looked this good. Year 1939 --1942 the good years --I think!

VHD-Tex, Linda, Past Pro and merrytexan, I have focused on work all my life and I am in my late 50s so I was looking for a way to reduce my belly but not run (which is what i did when I was younger) so walking is what I am trying to do. Carrying a camera is a great way to pass the time! I really feel like I am fortunate to have such a pleasant place to walk my 6 to 8 miles on Sat and Sun. It makes me happy that you guys appreciate the walk. This is what I see. The pictures are not well composed compared to what I see in this forum but they are kinda what I see as I walk for 3 hours! I gotta expand my territory a little but I sure enjoy carrying a camera to pass my time. I carried a 105 macro for months so this was the first venture into 70 to 200, obviously a whole different world. I couldn't even focus 4 feet away which is a huge step from 8 inches away! Thanks for looking and reminiscing with me! It motivates me to keep on walking with the camera! John

Keep working on the shot like the egret and the winding path and you won't go to far wrong. Don't go too far down that camparison road either, use it as a motivational tool as there are many reason why some captures look better than others.

I very much identify with what you said in this part above. When I bought an ultra-wide angle lens in summer (it's called that, though I guess only the first mm of the 10-18 for APS-C is considered ultra-wide :) ), I was suddenly seeing landscapes in an entirely different way. Great motivator for creativity.
