Is anyone as tempted to buy this camera as I am? It it is still so new but the reviews so far are very good. Am shooting with Sony RX10 now and am happy but would like sharper photos
A77II does have a full frame sensor...

The A77II is NOT a full frame sensor, it is a crop sensor. The Sony Alpha series full frame camera is the A99 model.

Oh, thanks for clarifying that for me
always so much to learn...
Sony's A7, A7r and A7s are full frame. Might want to look at a Sony A6000 also.

^^^The A6000 and A77II share both the same sensor AND the same processor.
The A77II is a semi-professional camera with professional features. It has a magnesium body, built in image stabilization (super steady shot) and a LOT of control over the photographic process.
Image quality of the two cameras is identical, the A6000 is made to be a small, walk around general purpose camera, whereas the A77II is more geared towards professional/semiprofessional landscape/portrait/sports photography.
The A77II really IS an excellent camera... as good as the Nikon/Olympus/Pentax competition and MUCH BETTER than the models in it's range from Canon.
You can NOT go wrong with it...
Not any more. I gave in last week. Sorry that I can't tell you much about it yet. The weather has been bad, so haven't had a good chance to really try it out, but here is a picture taken out my dining room window.

I upgraded to the a77ii a month ago and I am absolutely loving it. I've been fighting weather as well but it was a gorgeous day Sunday and, after watching for two months, these guys finally showed up in the canyon.
SOOC, no cropping, no PP
Sony 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 lens, full zoom
I just got mine last Monday. Got a fantastic deal on Amazon; the a77ii AND the vertical grip for the same price as the camera body alone! (I'll probably sell the grip; having two batteries is nice but I can carry a bunch of extra batteries for the same weight cost as the grip). I haven't had much time to use it yet, but so far, I'm very impressed (have been using an a580, which I'm keeping as a second camera). I like the re-assignable buttons; I've assigned WB to send pix to my cell phone and assigned the (weird) magnification button to "in camera help" to help me figure out what all the menu items do. LOVE the wi-fi and NFC capability. Images seem soft to me though, so I've gone into the Creative Styles (which are "on" all of the time) and bumped the sharpness up to +3 (the max); big improvement. Anybody found anything else in the settings that you'd pretty much always want to change?

Take a look at this W.H.:
http://friedmanarchives.com/alpha77II/index.htmGary Friedman is THE best writer of 3rd party owners manuals in the business.
His books in general and this book in particular are EXCELLENT, covering each and every feature and function of your camera in GREAT DETAIL while using easy to understand language.
It is the best book on the market... bar none. And if you don't agree, you get a 2 week money back guarantee.
Check it out... you will NOT be disappointed.
I always buy Gary's books, started with his book on the KM Maxxum 5D. I ordered his a77ii book yesterday. I also like his wireless flash books.

In the book, Gary has his recommended settings, I set my a77ii up per his recommendations and modified from there. So far, I've only had to tweak one or two.

Agree with the enthusiasm for the A77ii, though I struggle with the joystick controller. I still have trouble controlling where the cursor goes. Anyone else have trouble with it?
