Picasa Taking Control

Has anyone else had this problem ?

I use a HP Photosmart printer and of course it comes with the HP photo printing program...

I also have Picasa and whenever I go to make into my pictures to make a print , Picasa pops up and takes over the control to edit and make prints, will print out 8x10's but won't allow 4x6's to be printed.... If I first click on the HP print program everthing goes well... But I like the editing on Picasa better...

Any ideas ??

I don't use Picasa, but they should have a spot to go change your settings. A friend uses it and has never said anything about that. I will have to ask.

Use the same set-up (HP/Picasa) when I print something other than 4x6 (default) you have to designate what you want. It's a pain but I guess it comes with the territory.

If you have Windows 7 - Go to Control Panel / Programs / Default Programs. There you can control which program is used for your work, including who has control for various printing.

If you are not using Win 7 - do a search on your OS for Associated Program Control or Default Programs.

I hate when new software thinks it can take over your system, and many of the common programs do it too.

Never had THAT problem with Picasa. I believe Picasa thinks it is smarter than mere humans. I have found that the program stores my pix wherever they will fit. AND on top of that--I have a few pix that I did NOT take; have no idea from where they came.
So watch out for this anomally. ALYN

Go to Picasa site, click tools, click properties. than click "scan always". It may recover the missing photos. Worth a try.

I hate Picassa. Whatever photo comes into my computer ( in emails for instance), Picassa copies it.....even comics. So I have a lot of graphics in Picassa that I didn't put there. Also, there are plenty of times I can't find a particular photo there. I've done searches with no results.

But I do find it helpful to print. I use Faststone and Gimp and Picassa seems to give me more options as to the position of the print on the paper.

Make of that what you will.

Well, I went and paid the $49.95 for downloading Photoshop #10 on Amazon.. Took over an hour to download it all... Hope I didn't step too far over the cliff... Think I'll make a lil drink and open it up............

NEVER use Picasa to "import" your photos from the camera or card. Manually copy them to a directory of YOUR choosing then tell Picasa where to find them using the folder manager.

I never use Picassa to "import" my photos from the camera....like you do, I just open the folder(the photos from the camera) and put them where I want....not Picassa....Picassa will take them the next time Picassa is opened.

picasa doesn't take your pics,it just catalogs and calls them up.you decide where to store them.
