Hi Artex,
Welcome to the Hog!
You are in the right place.
The cavalry is on their way.

Best thing is the Nikon name. Your lenses you know and love will mount up.
Maybe, maybe not, work with the focusing systems. But as you said, they work manually. Good start!

I have an AF lens I'm dreaming of a body for that I can dedicate to the lens (Macro) and use it's AF feature (Auto Focusing).
I think a D7000 will do. My SIL's D90 was able to run it. (He called it a screw focus).
I feel a GAS attack coming on.

As long as it's an AI lens and not a non-Ai, It will work on both the D5200 and D7000.
For a description of the difference between AI and NON-AI lenses, take a look here.

Actually, while both AI and AI-S lenses will "work" on both cameras, on the D5200 you will only have manual exposure while on the D7000 you will also have aperture priority auto exposure.

True, I had forgotten to mention that. Thanks for bringing it up.

It sounds as if you have lots of experience; the 7000 would not be too advanced. You can actually begin to use as you did your film cameras, and, as you gain more experience, begin to explore what the camera can do. You will be fine!
