Thanks Bill for the recommendation. I see it is on sale at B&H for $89, but I have to wait on purchasing. Too many other things to buy first. Glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem.

I would agree with earlier comments that shooting raw is the best option. This places the onus on you to come up with the most appropriate PP. I found that Clarity works better than Contrast and Vibrance works better than Saturation.
Another thought I had was that the human eye discerns more detail with the colour blue. If a loss of detail was one of your concerns, you could try shifting WB towards the blue end a touch, provided you were happy that the shift didn't affect the trueness of the colour of the flowers.

Dadgummit! I always find out about a sale a day late. It is back up to $99.95
