Hello, I am strictly an amateur photographer and take most of my photos while traveling. Of course I also take family photos of family events. I have a Canon AE1 that I got for College graduation. I love it, but have gotten out of the habit of using it since I got a digital camera. SonyDSC-H2. I love the camera but it is now outdated. I have played with the idea of buying a telephoto lens w/ adapter for it. Is it worth spending $50-$100.00 or should I look for a new camera? Still really enjoy my H2.

Welcome to the forum -
I'll start with this -
*** The shooter makes the excellent shot - not the camera ***So, since you love your camera, and you just want to extend your range - go for the lens...
IF you want to upgrade - just to upgrade - there are many units to choose from...
And some items to consider for purchasing equipment:
*What is your budget?
*What is your focus (landscape, nature, sports, stars, water, people, etc...)?
*What is your goal (just to enjoy and share, learn more, get critiques, become a professional)?
Questions on Pixel count - lots of info out there on this subject...
Basically, the higher the pixel count, the larger the print you can produce.
A quick
review and comparison of cameras (not by any means the final word - just a quick overview of the technical differences):
Alternative buying options are refurbished and used. I buy refurbished and have been very pleased with the equipment. Other members buy used and the comments have been very positive.

hereIf you are located in the U.S, it is recommended to stay away from gray market items (non-USA items) as explained in this
article by Nikon.
Hope this helps...

Greetings bakeroo, and welcome to the UHH.
That's a tough question. If you still enjoy using the H2, and aren't put off by the 6MP image size, then spending the $50-$100 is cheap compared to what you will spend on a new camera with comparable features (but higher pixel count). Like anything else, it depends on how much money you have to spend, and your willingness to spend it ;)

Hi bakeroo. Welcome to the hog. I see no reason not to buy a lens. If you enjoy using the camera, stick to it.
