Hi Hogs! Checking to see if anyone has contact information for a manager or supervisor in Nikon's Melville repair service center. I had an issue with my D3200, called customer service, troubleshooted the problem, not resolved. Sent it it for repair, received camera back with the same problem. I asked to speak to a repair service manager and was told I could not. I shipped my camera back, with a request to have it expedited (my only dslr and it's impacting my 365 project and holiday photos!!!), and was told it would be noted but there's no guarantees. I would love to speak to a manager in the repair service center. Does anyone have contact names/number/emails? TIA! - Karen

Maybe you could expound upon your problem? Was the problem not fixed because its caused by user error? Was the problem clearly explained in the repair request?
Calling the 800 number and requesting a supervisor will usually end up in success if you explain the issue.

Karen,
Play the role of the 800 lb gorilla in the room. That usually gets some response.

I should have asked for a customer service supervisor. I only asked for the manager or supervisor of the repair services group. Here's the problem I'm having: Aperature priority and shutter priority are not working correctly. In apperature priority, I can choose the aperature but the camera is not correctly choosing the correct shutterspeed. It chooses 60 no matter what aperature I choose and I cannot change the shutterspeed even though the exposure bar is showing and it shows the shutterspeed is incorrect. Same thing happens in shutter priority. I can choose the shutterspeed but the camera incorrectly choose the aperature and I cannot change it. I tried manual mode and cannot correctly dial in the correct exposure.

I thought I explained the problem correctly, and there were notes from both phone calls to customer service. My phone numbers were listed in case there were any questions. I was not contacted by the repair department.

Is your flash popped up when this happens? The shutter will default to flash synch speed if you raise the flash unit.

Have you locked in your ISO? If ISO is locked and the aperture you select will result in improper exposure then the camera will stop at the maximum available aperture.

Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO must all 3 work together to attain proper exposure. Changing one will always affect another. Your camera is designed to not give you a radically improper exposure.

No it wasn't. I don't use the pop up flash. This issue happens over and over. It used to be an occasional issue and the camera would go back to working correctly when it felt like it. It eventually progressed to happening all the time.

Have you tried doing the two button reset?

I don't think I locked in my ISO. Not sure how to do that. I can tell you that the first time I called Nikon, the rep had me reset everything on the camera and the problem still continued.

I believe so. The first time I called the customer service the rep reset everything.

Being 2000 miles away I cannot help in person so I have to ask the obvious questions.

The two-button reset is pressing the two green buttons on the camera together and holding them until your LCD starts flashing. Does that sound familiar?

Thanks for the explanation! Yes. The rep had me do that reset. Also took the batter out for 5 or 10 minutes.

Try that reset again. If it does not help, then get on the phone and ask for a supervisor. Have your paperwork ready for the previous trip to Nikon as it will be needed.
