I want to share some of my high school sports photos with students and their parents. For now they could see their kids in action and order prints.
My question revolves around how to do it.
I have seen people posting photos on other forums that contain a link to a web site which has their pics on it. It also looked like many photographers used what appeared to be a hosted web site.
Short of creating a web site, do you folks have any ideas or solutions?

I used to have 6 websites I built and maintained.
It was a PITA. Because I had to bang out HTML code.

I would suggest you get a domain name and build yourself a site. Especially if you want to try and sell your work.
Professionalism does not look well on a free site.
Then there is the power of the right click. Without a watermark, anybody could right click and steal your photographs.
Meanwhile you are supporting the website for them to cherry pick from.
Good luck with your endeavors. It is a lot easier today than back when. ;)

Look at zenfolio.

You can show your images, and they can order directly from the site. You set up the pricing, the "back end" is all done for you (you get an email notifying you of each order).

My website with zenfolio is in my signature.

Smug Mug allows you to share your galleries by creating a web address that you can email to those who you want to share the photos with. The latest update of Photoshop CC has the same feature.

A beautiful way to present your images, Allen. I enjoyed perusing all your work. I loved the way you positioned the water drops on the flowers - IMO, perfect. Did you choose the music?

Great choice as a web portfolio for Dana.

I may not be representative, because I subscribed so long ago I may be grandfathered, but for me it's $80/year, unlimited storage. So I upload full-res jpegs and treat it as another cloud storage backup, in essence.

Thank you. Yes, I selected the music.

Just dedicate an album on Facebook ... or have a picture there that links automatically to the pictures in question.
The less work needed by the "clicker" the more views will occur .....which is what you want!

You don't have a mute switch or volume control on your computer? I feel sorry for you, then.

And I don't have a music soundtrack for probably 90% of my individual image folders - just the featured slides.

Doesn't handle the ordering & printing of prints, though. That's what's nice about zenfolio - it's all integrated, you don't have to do anything but set a pricelist.

I constructed my own site years before any of the photo sharing sites popped into existence. After seeing some of them, I think it is a far more professional way to go by having your own site.

Shootproof is a good site as well where you control everything from who can download for free, and links print orders to several professional labs. I don't know the cost per year, but that's the way I'm going when the time is right. I also have been shooting my son's running HS sports for 4 years and parents here are stingy and want free images.
