Giottos tripods

Getting my first tripod. Tried out a friends Giottos (VGR model)and it looks ok but need something a bit taller. Any good/bad experiences with their Silk Road units?

I'm seriously considering a Giottos tripod. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/969800-REG/giottos_ytl_9314_4_sec_aluminum_tripod_31mm.html goes to 75" max height & will handle a 22 pound load. Now all I have to do is decide on a head.

I have an older one like this... However. Mine has what I would call an "Articulated Head" on the post... Where by, you may take out the center-post and manipulate it in different ways to get any shot... Including having the camera's back to the ground and macro-lens Up and Under any plant that is of course having space to do that.
And with this extremely versatile tool, a photographer can manipulate the tripod on uneven land terrain giving him a good and stable support to work from for their camera.

Interesting...I clicked on the link and it automatically signed my into my .edu account at B&H. I'd been considering trading in my old A330/lens(es) and would get about the right amount for it...I had gotten a price from them but due to personal issues couldn't respond/send them in before the deadline. I'll probably have to get in tough with them again. I NEED a tripod! Friday is the last day of the class I'm taking (B/W darkroom)

Couldn't find one when I needed it for my 600mm, went with "REALLY THE RIGHT SSTUFF", USA made, right down to the last screw--- Never looked back. :)

Absolutely No Problem with spelling....
If You get a chance you should read over the "Journals of Lewis and Clark" from the Corps of Discovery 1804 to 1806.
