I took advantage of Corels BF sale and purchased PSP 7 -largely because they included AfterShot in the package. Now I am wondering what is AS used for. I was under the understanding that it is Corel's version of Lightroom. Is it primarily used to work on RAWFiles? It appears to have many of the same features as PSP, but not as much editing tools. So, who knows? Thx.

You are right; it is Corel's version of Lightroom.

Like lightroom, it could be the only program you need for many of your images. When I was running PSP/ASP, the only files that were edited in PSP were composites.

One difference between Lightroom and AfterShot is in the wa6y it handle the sidecar file. In LR, the sidecar file is changed, in ASP, a new sidecar file is produced each time. That means you can have several different processed versions. Yes the extra sidecar files do take up a bit more space but sidecar files are not that large and well worth the small amount of extra space they require.
