Hi Folks, this is my first Post so sorry if I am not doing it right. I have a question for all the Olympus EM-1 Owners. My Camera is in for service right now for it is rattling when I shake it somewhat vigourously. It sounds like there is a loose piece rattling around. This is not the sound of the Stabilizers working (a somewhat gentle sound that stops when everything is set) but an actual rattle when shaking. It does seem to stop when I take a picture but if I turn off the Camera and start all over, the rattle is there.
I sent the Camera in for the Leatherette had come unglued. When I got it back, I discovered the Rattle and immediately sent it back to them (not sure if something happened in shipping or something happened in Service). I have talked to one Service Person and he says this is normal and his Camera rattled. It is being looked at by a more senior Tech and I haven't heard back. I don't remember the Camera rattling like this during an extensive shoot in Croatia but I may be mistaken. Please let me know what you think or can create with your Cameras
you'd have to video it for me to see exactly what you are referring to...which is probably tough right now since you don't have it.
One solution would be to not shake it ;-)

I have never noticed a rattle though I'm familiar with the low hum of the IS. I have ALMOST always had good results from Olympus Tech but I have an outstanding issue with them over a lens that has taught me they ain't perfect. Keep after it.
You could ask on the DPR m43 forum as well, there's a lot more EM1 owners over there than there are here on UHH.
After turning off the Camera and turning it back on, just take the Camera in both hands and gently shake it. Either your Camera will rattle as if there is a broken or loose piece in it or it won't. What I am looking for is that other people do not have the rattle and I do so I can report this to the Repair Dept. If all the others have this Rattle, I do not have a problem.
I think it depends on how heavily you are shaking it. Mine is new (1000 frames in the week I've had it) and rapid acceleration shake gives a little bit of clicking noise but not like something is really loose. I'm guessing that's the IBIS mechanism. No noise at all the way I normally handle it. Maybe they left the scalpel in when they operated on it before?

No noise whatsoever. A little click when I turn it on. The shutter click when I take the photo. A little b-beep when it achieves focus. Otherwise nothing. And I shook it sideways, up-and-down and forward and backward, close to my ear.
One thing comes to mind, unfortunately you can't check that right now: did the rattling sound come from the camera body or from the attached lens? If you sent only the body and have the lens there, see if it rattles when you shake it.
