I am new to the forum, although I have viewed the site for several months. I have retired from an IT job and have been looking for a new hobby. I have had a Canon t3i since June, but previously used a light-weight Canon PowerShot extensively in the back country for about 15-years. Prior to that, I shot film with a Canon A-1.

Welcome to the Force...

You have entered an addictive land of truths, myths, fantasies, ghosts, goblins and good old fashioned advice (whether you want it or not)...

Seriously though - the folks here have lots of good advice and a couple of days of experience and are willing share what they can - don't hesitate to ask detailed questions, in fact, the more details, the more accurate the answer ;)

A couple of links to help you navigate the forum and a couple of resources to hopefully answer your questions or guide you in your quest...

Ask away and post away - looking forward to seeing some photos.

Welcome to the family! I have had a T3i for 2 years; purchased the new Canon 10-18 ultra-wide angle lens in summer and love it! Check it out if you're into landscapes. I also recently bought a Sigma 18-250 mm. Some folks like it, some not so much. But's a versatile focal length and the price was right :)
