Thanks, Gargle - great tips!! I forget that the work is generally done with upper body, vessel constriction due to cold and the circadian rhythms of early morning, contribute greatly to the potential for coronary events!!!

Might be good advice,but not always practical when the city says your walks have to be cleaned & you can't afford to pay someone.

If you do shovel, make sure that you exhale at the moment of maximum effort, when you are moving the loaded shovel. It takes a bit of practice, but medics say it is less stressful that way.

also don't forget to bend your knees.
