My wife has a Nikon D3200 with a Nikor 18-300mm zoom lens, which she uses for wildlife and bird photos. The 18-300mm is a great lens, but a little more reach would be better.
She would like to get a larger zoom lens and would like to know what may be available for the D3200. I have looked at the Sigma 150-500mm and the Tamron 150-600mm. Wondering if these are compatible with the D3200, from all that I have read they appear to be.
Any suggestions on lenses for the D3200 would be appreciated.
John
Any lens that has a focus motor built into the lens will work...Nikkor lenses will be marked AFs

Both those lenses are fully compatible with the D3200 body.
Those lenses will work on your wife's camera body. I own the Sigma and really like it for birds and sports. It has all the reach I need on a crop sensor body like mine (d7000). The D3200 is also a cropped sensor so that it will have basically the same reach as my camera. I think it would be a good investment.
The major issue with those larger lenses is the size & weight.... Try to check them out at a store beforehand if possible... Otherwise a good tripod & Gimbal head is in order...
A used 300 f4 W/1.4X is always a good possibility for Nikon - if you can find one.

I was under the assumption that a teleconverter would not work with the D3200? Something about the teleconverter interfering with the mechanics of the camera body.
I remember reading some where my D3200 can not use one.

These are big heavy lenses. I've seen similar lenses handheld, but they are best used with a tripod. If possible I would have your wife handle one before buying it especially if she intends to use it handheld.
