I have a 40" 5 in 1 from Westscott and I' m very happy with it. I think the price is around 30 to 40 dollars.

White on one side and silver on the other.

The gold reflectors can cast a gold color that's hard to correct. The barred silver/gold ones seem to do OK.

I use the Westcott 50" 5 in 1 reflector kit. The larger the reflector, the softer the reflected light.

Get a 1/4" white foamcore board - you can get a 4x8 sheet, cut it into two 4x4 pieces, and tape it together - it is a little less convenient, but it is an excellent reflector.

They are all the same, you decide based on your budget.

I buy the cheapies so if they get ruined, I don't cry.

You should be able to pick one up about 40" in diameter for about $20.00 at Adorama.

I use a 5 in 1 reflector and I only use the white and the opaque most of the time. Gold for sunsets and hardly ever use the silver or the black. I think I used the black 1 time in 4 years to block direct overhead sunlight. But it was cheaper than buying some of the single reflectors and works really well. Look at B&H or Amazon. Believe it or not, my favorite is white foam core. Taped 2 together to form a V-flat, painted one side black. Folds flat, fits under the cover in the back of my car, easy to hold, doesnt blow in the wind as much and can stand on its own (if not windy).

Most 5 in 1 reflectors are not that expensive. You may want more than one. I have a 40"x60"oval sold by Ephoto and a 42" round sold by Fotodiox. I am happy with both.

A few instructors have suggested that as well as using a car sun shade. The foamcore would give a softer less specular light than any metallic surface. In fact a use smaller pieces of foamcore for table top studio reflectors. Good suggestion Gene51
