I've enclosed 3 photos of my favorite river that I took one afternoon. The finished product produced this "C" shaped shadow always in the same place.
HELP!!!
It looks like the branches and sticks are dead and have turned a dark gray/black color and due to the shape of the pile of branches and sticks its reflection in the water is causing it to form a C shape due to symmetry. If you want it to be of the same brightness as the rest of the shoreline then I would recommend lightening/dodging the pile of branches and sticks as well as its reflection.

So you suggest that the reflection is from darkened vegetation along the rivers edge. Interesting!
Thanks for your comments.
Burn bushes (or black fungus), simple as that.
Weird to look at but it is not a metaphysical apparition.
Sorry.
- If you look at it, the burn/infection goes slightly up the ridge and has spared part of the vegetation creating a curve that when reflected creates a 'C'.
